Web Development Company in Islamabad: How to Choose One

The short answer

Search results for web development companies in Islamabad are mostly paid-placement directories, so they help you find names but not choose between them. Pick the firm by the type of site you need, ask for live examples you can open, and settle in writing who owns the domain and hosting, what renews at what price, and who fixes the site after launch.

How do you choose a web development company in Islamabad?

Choose by evidence you can check, not by directory rank: open the firm's live sites on your phone, get the scope and the ownership of your domain and hosting in writing, and ask what renews at what price after year one. Price and location matter less than whether the firm can show a site like yours that works and say who looks after it after launch.

That is the part the search results for this query leave out. They are mostly directory listings, and a directory is built to help you find names, not to help you decide between them. The rest of this page covers what the directories do, which type of site to ask for, a checklist to put to every firm, the warning signs, and where Islamabad fits in.

What the directories show, and what they do not

The directories that rank for this search list firms by city or country and sell placement, so a high position can mean a firm paid for it. Use them to build a shortlist, then do the checking yourself.

Directory What its own page says What that means for you
DesignRush, Pakistan web development Lists 772 companies. Organic ranking uses "top services, reviews, portfolio, awards/press, and team expertise". The default sort is "Sponsored", and "sponsored listings pay for a placement that appears above organic positions". The first names you see may be there because they paid. Switch the sort to organic or to reviews before you read the list.
Clutch, Pakistan web developers Says "We may earn a fee for some placements" and "We verify reviews and evaluate companies". Ratings were shown as updated on November 5, 2026. Reviews carry weight, but the page does not say how placements are chosen. Read the reviews for projects like yours.

Two limits apply to every directory. They are national, so an Islamabad filter is not always available, and a Pakistan-wide list of hundreds of firms cannot tell you which ones suit a ten-page clinic site or a 200-product store. The second limit is that a listing describes what the firm says about itself. A review on a directory is evidence about one past client, not about the team that would work on your project.

Which type of site do you need?

The type of site narrows the field before you compare any firm: a content-led business site, an online store and a custom application need different skills, and most firms are strong at one of them.

You need Usually built on Ask the firm
A business site that you or your staff will edit (services, about, blog, enquiry form) WordPress, or a static site Which theme or builder, how you edit pages, and who updates plugins
An online store Shopify or WooCommerce on WordPress How checkout, delivery and payment gateways work for Pakistani customers
A booking, portal or custom workflow A custom build Why the need cannot be met by a platform, and who maintains the code
A rebuild of a site that already earns search traffic Any of the above Who maps old addresses to new ones and keeps the redirects live

If you are opening a store, our guide to setting up a Shopify store in Pakistan covers the platform's payment and delivery limits that decide which build you need. If a current site already brings in enquiries, read how to redesign a website without losing SEO rankings before anyone touches it.

A custom build is not a better build. It is a build that you pay for twice: once to make and then every year to keep running, because someone has to fix every update. Ask for one only when a platform cannot do what you need.

What should you check before you hire?

Check six things, in this order: live examples, scope, ownership, running costs, performance targets and who is responsible after launch. Each takes one email and the answers are easy to compare across firms.

  1. Live examples. Ask for two or three sites you can open yourself, ideally in your sector, and open them on a phone. Look at how fast they load, whether the forms work and whether they look the same today as in a portfolio image. A portfolio picture can be a design that was never published.
  2. Scope in writing. Pages and templates, whether the design is custom or a purchased theme, who writes the text and supplies the images, how many revision rounds are included and which tools are connected on launch day (forms, WhatsApp, payment gateway, analytics). Our website prices in Pakistan guide has the full list of questions to send every firm.
  3. Ownership. The domain and hosting account should be registered in your name, with your email, and you should receive the files and logins at handover. If a firm registers them in its own name, you cannot move the site if the relationship ends.
  4. Running costs. Ask for the renewal price, not the first-term price. Hostinger Pakistan's page, checked on November 6, 2026, shows its Single plan at Rs.399 a month on a 48-month term, with "Today you pay Rs.19,152 for 48 months. Renews at Rs.999/mo for the same term." That is one host's pricing, not an endorsement, but hosts commonly price this way, so the question is the same for every quote.
  5. Performance targets. Ask the firm to test the finished site against Google's published thresholds: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds and Cumulative Layout Shift below 0.1. A site on a heavy theme can miss all three, and you only find out after you have paid for ads that send people to it.
  6. After launch. Who fixes it when a plugin update breaks the form, and what does that cost? Some firms include a month of support, others sell a monthly plan. Both are fine if it is written down.

Is the business real?

Ask for the firm's legal business name and tax registration. Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue publishes Active Taxpayer Lists for income tax and sales tax that you can check the name against. This confirms the business exists and files, not that its websites are good, so treat it as the first filter and the live examples as the second. If a firm will not give a legal name, that is itself the answer.

Warning signs

Most problems with a web project start in the quote, not in the code. These are the patterns to stop and ask about.

Warning sign Why it matters What to ask
A price with no list of what is included You cannot compare it, and extras appear later "Please list pages, revisions, content, hosting and support"
Domain or hosting in the firm's name You cannot leave without losing the site address "Will the account be in my name from day one?"
Portfolio images but no live links The work may never have launched "Which of these can I open today?"
A promise to rank on page one of Google No firm controls Google's results, and the usual way to force a result is a tactic that gets sites penalised "What exactly do you do for search, and what do you not do?"
No answer on speed or mobile testing The site may look fine on the designer's desktop and be slow on a phone "Which devices and which numbers will you test?"
Only a first-term hosting price Renewals can be a multiple of the first term "What does it cost from year two?"

If search traffic is a goal of the site, a good web firm will say what it does and does not cover. Building a fast, crawlable site is part of the job. Winning rankings is separate, ongoing work, and our SEO agency, freelancer or in-house guide explains how to hire for it. Our SEO packages in Pakistan guide shows what Pakistani firms publish for it.

Does the company need to be in Islamabad?

No. Briefs, design reviews, content handover and revisions run on video calls and shared documents, so a firm in Lahore, Karachi or abroad can build your site. A firm in Islamabad is easier if you want to meet in person at the start, if several people on your team must sign off on the design, or if the site must be kept in step with a local business such as a clinic, a school or a housing project.

Whatever the city, the buyer's risk is the same: unclear scope, unclear ownership and no plan after launch. Choose on the checks above, and use the location as a tiebreaker.

How does 1920 Agency work on a website?

1920 Agency is based in Islamabad, with locations in Rawalpindi and Lahore. We build business websites, online stores and WordPress sites, and we do not publish prices, because a site's cost depends on pages, content, integrations and upkeep. We map the job first and then quote a fixed scope with each included item listed, so you can compare it line by line with any other firm's quote.

You can see the kind of work we do in two published case studies: the Knightsbridge Healthcare website, a WordPress build for a healthcare business, and the Progen Aesthetics Clinic website, a rebuild of a UK clinic's site that we also run SEO for. The web design and development service page explains how a project runs, from brief to launch.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a good web development company in Islamabad?

Start with a shortlist of three to five firms from directories, referrals and your own searches. Then ask each for live sites you can open on your phone, the scope in writing, and who owns the domain and hosting. The directories are a starting point only: DesignRush says its default sort is Sponsored, and Clutch says it may earn a fee for some placements.

Should I hire a company in Islamabad or a freelancer?

A freelancer suits a defined job such as a template site or one landing page. A company suits a build that needs design, development, content and tracking to line up, and where someone must answer after launch. Our guide to website prices in Pakistan lists one firm's hourly bands for freelancers, small agencies and software houses.

Do I need to meet the company in person?

No. Most of the work, such as briefs, design reviews and revisions, runs by video call, chat and shared documents, so a firm in another city or country can build your site. Meeting in person helps for a large project or when many people in your team must sign off, but it is a preference, not a requirement.

WordPress, Shopify or a custom build: which should I choose?

Choose WordPress for a content-led business site you want to edit yourself, Shopify for a store where you want the platform to handle checkout and hosting, and a custom build only when a requirement cannot be met by either. A custom build costs more to make and more to maintain, so it needs a reason.

How can I check that a company is a real business?

Ask for its legal business name and tax registration, then check it against the Federal Board of Revenue's Active Taxpayer Lists, which the FBR publishes for income tax and sales tax. Also ask for two or three clients you can contact and live sites you can open. A registration check shows a business exists, not that its work is good.

What should be in a website contract?

The list of pages and features, who writes the content, the number of revision rounds, the launch date, the tools connected on launch day, who owns the domain, hosting account and source files, what happens if you stop working together, and the price of anything that renews after the first year.

What speed should my new website reach?

Google's Core Web Vitals guidance calls a Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, an Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds and a Cumulative Layout Shift below 0.1 a good experience. Ask the company to test the finished site against those three numbers on a phone and to show you the results.

Does 1920 Agency build websites in Islamabad?

Yes. 1920 Agency is based in Islamabad, with locations in Rawalpindi and Lahore, and builds business websites, online stores and WordPress sites. We do not publish prices: we map the job first and then quote a fixed scope with every included item listed.
